Assault Weapons Legal By Gary R. Hess, Fri Dec 9th
On Monday September 13th Assault Weapons became legal for thefirst time in ten years. The weapons which become legal includeAK-47s, Oozies and other automatic weaponry. This un-banning of the weapons make it easier for criminals toget their hands on automatic weapons and cause more harm quicklyand abruptly than before. The bill which made these weapons illegal was backed by morethan 64% of the population to be renewed however congress andthe president did not even touch the issue.
The assault weapons ban was put in place to stop criminals fromgetting these weapons, although it was not full proof it wasproved to be very helpful in cutting down on crimes whichincluded assault weapons. Days before the weapons became legal Al Qaeda released anothervideo telling its members to go to the USA and buy the assaultweapons when they become legal. Since the United States is oneof the only countries, especially civilized, that allows the useand selling of such weapons the USA will become a haven forterrorists. The
main reason why the bill was not renewed is the NRA,National Rifle Association. The members of the NRA have beenwaiting for this day since 1994. The group is so powerful tostop a weapon from getting banned because of their money andability to persuade the public. If the members of congress wereto renew the bill, their days in would be limited. The NRA has the power to make or break the political career ofany man or woman. They do this by spending millions of dollarsplacing negative ads against them. In return the voters seepoliticians as ‘evil’ and vote someone else to take their place. In an election year it is extremely important to the congressmenand women to stay away from such harm. The members of Congress know that the selling of assault weaponsis immoral and should be banned. The problem is that the NRAholds so much power they will not even bring the issue to thefloor. The people of the United States need a ban on assault weapons.Write your congressmen today to have this done. About the author:Gary R. Hess is a writer at OpinionArticles garyr_h@yahoo.com

So it comes as no surprise, really, that the agency is now getting into the flying-car business, too.
Darpa hopes its "Personal Air Vehicle Technology"
project, announced yesterday, will ultimately lead to a working
prototype of a military-suitable flying car -- a two- or four-passenger
vehicle that can "drive on roads" one minute and take off like a
helicopter the next. The hybrid machine would be perfect for "urban
scouting," casualty evacuation and commando-delivery missions, the
agency believes.

[ source ]
Constitutional Dead Letters
by Roger Roots | Historians of Soviet Russia occasionally note that the communist workers’ paradise was originally intended to adhere to a written constitution that expressly guaranteed freedoms such as speech, press and assembly. In practice, however, none of the freedoms guaranteed in the Soviet constitution were recognized in the country’s legal system, and millions of dissenters and suspected dissenters were imprisoned or killed for disagreeing with the commissars of the state.

The United States Constitution, by contrast, is thought to be in good standing. Yet there are numerous provisions of the U.S. Constitution that are never enforced. These provisions, analogous to “dead letters” in the U.S. Postal System, are either totally ignored by federal judges or given such a narrow construction that they might as well not exist. As columnist and curmudgeon Joseph Sobran has written, the Supreme Court has, in essence, exercised a “line-item veto” over the [docs], totally ignoring provisions that interfere with the justices’ national vision or social objectives.
http://rinf.com/alt-news/politics/constitutional-dead-letters/4851/

Read more for some examplesNeed a laugh today?
